American Express, Chevron share gains lead Dow's nearly 1300-point surge

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is soaring Monday morning with shares of American Express and Chevron delivering the strongest returns for the blue-chip average. The Dow DJIA, +4.05% is trading 1,297 points (4.6%) higher, as shares of American Express AXP, +19.00% and Chevron CVX, +11.98% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally. American Express’s shares are up $18.02, or 18.6%, while those of Chevron are up $8.96 (12.6%), combining for a roughly 177-point boost for the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the gain are Walt Disney DIS, +10.82%, Dow Inc. DOW, +9.37%, and Boeing BA, +11.62%. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components results in a 6.58-point swing.
