For the first time since the coronavirus hit, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed higher than the pre-COVID record, giving President Trump another belated election promise kept.

The Dow on Monday, egged on by reports of a second effective virus vaccine, closed at 29,950.

That topped its previous high of 29,551 on Feb. 12.

As most know, it tanked in the following months, hitting 18,591 on March 20.

It has crossed 29,551 on a few days, but never closed higher.

For what it’s worth, the Dow has surged 61% in just 279 days.
