Chevron, American Express share gains contribute to Dow's 185-point jump

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up Wednesday morning with shares of Chevron and American Express leading the way for the price-weighted average. Shares of Chevron CVX, -0.42% and American Express AXP, +0.34% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.23% is trading 185 points, or 0.6%, higher. Chevron’s shares have gained $1.68, or 2.0%, while those of American Express have climbed $2.27 (2.0%), combining for a roughly 26-point boost for the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the gain include JPMorgan Chase JPM, -0.44%, Boeing BA, -1.16%, and Walgreens Boots WBA, -0.63%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark results in a 6.58-point swing.
