Dow up 438 points on gains in shares of Caterpillar, Walgreens Boots

Behind strong returns for shares of Caterpillar and Walgreens Boots, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is rallying Wednesday afternoon. The Dow DJIA, +1.44% was most recently trading 438 points, or 1.4%, higher, as shares of Caterpillar CAT, +5.57% and Walgreens Boots WBA, +4.54% have contributed around a quarter of the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally. Caterpillar’s shares are up $10.09 (5.5%) while those of Walgreens Boots have climbed $2.06, or 5.0%, combining for an approximately 80-point boost for the Dow. JPMorgan Chase JPM, +4.70%, Goldman Sachs GS, +5.40%, and Dow Inc. DOW, +4.71% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark results in a 6.58-point swing.
