Dow's 87-point climb highlighted by gains in shares of Chevron, Dow Inc.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Wednesday afternoon with shares of Chevron and Dow Inc. leading the way for the index. Shares of Chevron CVX, +2.68% and Dow Inc. DOW, +2.12% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, -0.01% is trading 87 points higher (0.3%). Chevron’s shares have gained $2.76 (2.7%) while those of Dow Inc. have climbed $1.47, or 2.4%, combining for an approximately 28-point bump for the Dow. Honeywell International Inc. HON, +1.74%, American Express AXP, +1.72%, and Travelers TRV, +1.55% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index equates to a 6.58-point swing.
