Video: Stocks fall as investors brace for inflation data (Reuters)
Behind declines for shares of Dow Inc. and Caterpillar, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Monday afternoon. The Dow was most recently trading 180 points (0.5%) lower, as shares of Dow Inc. and Caterpillar are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline. Dow Inc.’s shares have dropped $1.43, or 2.0%, while those of Caterpillar are off $4.55, or 1.9%, combining for an approximately 39-point drag on the Dow. UnitedHealth Merck and Travelers are also contributing significantly to the decline. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark results in a 6.58-point swing.
