President Joe Biden is speaking from the White House at 10 a.m. on Thursday to deliver remarks on the economy and inflation rates. His comments come as annual inflation slowed to 6.5% in December, a sign that the price pressures that have wracked the economy over the past year are easing.

Meanwhile, “core inflation,” which omits food and energy prices, grew 0.3% in December. The unemployment rate fell to 3.5%, tied for the lowest rate since the late 1960s.
