Meta and Alphabet Don’t Pay Dividends. They Should.

Alphabet

is one of some 16 companies among the top 50 in the S&P 500 ranked by market value that doesn’t pay a dividend. It ought to initiate one—and so should a bunch of the others.

Such a move likely would play well with investors who increasingly have been favoring dividend-paying companies.

Platforms (Ticker META) is another giant that probably would benefit from paying a dividend.
