Dow Jones, S&P 500 record highest daily earn in 14 days

(MENAFN) The Dow Jones Industrial Average as well as S&P 500 ended Friday with earnings and recorded their largest day to day earn in two weeks.

The Dow surged by 330 points, or 1 percent, to stand at 33,375. The S&P 500 increased 73 points, or 1.89 percent to stand at 3,972.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq rose 288 points, or 2.66 percent, to reach 11,140 points.

Nonetheless, on a weekly basis, the Dow dropped 2.7 percent as well as the S&P lost 0.7 percent, but the Nasdaq earned 0.6 percent.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, decreased by 3.6 percent to reach 19.78. The 10-year US Treasury yield jumped by 2.6 percent to reach 3.488 percent.

The dollar index plummeted 0.1 percent to reach 101.99, whereas the euro rose by 0.3 percent to USD1.0856 versus the dollar.

Precious metals recorded mixed figures, with gold declining 0.3 percent to reach USD1,927 an ounce but silver soaring 0.4 percent to USD23.94.
