Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading lower on Monday at 11:16AM

DCM Shriram Industries(up 0.61%), AVADHSUGAR(up 0.47%), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(up 0.44%), Bannari Amman Sugars(up 0.39%), K.M.Sugar Mills(up 0.17%), Balrampur Chini Mills(up 0.17%) and Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(up 0.15%) were among the top gainers.

Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 5.77%), Simbhaoli Sugars(down 2.40%), BAJAJHIND(down 1.59%), KCP Sugar & Industries(down 1.20%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 0.95%), Mawana Sugars(down 0.86%), Sakthi Sugars(down 0.85%), Rana Sugars(down 0.81%), Uttam Sugar Mills(down 0.70%) and

& Industries(down 0.61%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 100.35 points up at 18128.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 373.04 points at 60994.81 at around 11:16AM.

Power Grid Corporation of India(up 2.08%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.95%), Hindalco Industries(up 1.88%), Hindustan Unilever(up 1.85%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.59%), Eicher Motors(up 1.53%), Tata Motors(up 1.34%), UPL Ltd(up 1.28%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 1.25%) and Hero MotoCorp(up 1.22%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, UltraTech Cement(down 2.26%), JSW Steel(down 1.61%), Adani Enterprises(down 0.84%), NTPC(down 0.8%), Grasim Industries(down 0.71%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 0.56%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 0.39%), SBI Life(down 0.37%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 0.3%) and Axis Bank(down 0.17%) were trading in the red.
