Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Financials sectors led shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Technology and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

U.S. stocks mixed at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.03%
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.03%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.02%, and the NASDAQ Composite index lost 0.18%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS), which rose 2.00% or 2.12 points to trade at 108.12 at the close. Meanwhile, McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD) added 1.28% or 3.44 points to end at 273.00 and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) was up 1.06% or 0.38 points to 36.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were 3M Company (NYSE:MMM), which fell 1.80% or 2.07 points to trade at 112.93 at the close. The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:TRV) declined 1.29% or 2.50 points to end at 190.75 and Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN) was down 1.22% or 3.16 points to 256.54.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were MarketAxess Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:MKTX) which rose 10.25% to 363.28, Capital One Financial Corporation (NYSE:COF) which was up 9.00% to settle at 116.10 and Warner Bros Discovery Inc (NASDAQ:WBD) which gained 8.59% to close at 14.53.
The worst performers were Nextera Energy Inc (NYSE:NEE) which was down 8.68% to 76.62 in late trade, Nasdaq Inc (NASDAQ:NDAQ) which lost 5.85% to settle at 58.30 and Intuitive Surgical Inc (NASDAQ:ISRG) which was down 5.50% to 243.80 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Minerva Surgical Inc (NASDAQ:UTRS) which rose 65.90% to 0.38, Alvarium Tiedemann Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:ALTI) which was up 65.41% to settle at 15.40 and GeoVax Labs Inc (NASDAQ:GOVX) which gained 58.89% to close at 1.11.
The worst performers were Grom Social Enterprises Inc (NASDAQ:GROM) which was down 35.63% to 2.06 in late trade, Helbiz Inc (NASDAQ:HLBZ) which lost 29.76% to settle at 0.29 and Waitr Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:ASAP) which was down 27.79% to 0.42 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1638 to 1393 and 120 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1926 rose and 1740 declined, while 174 ended unchanged.
Shares in Alvarium Tiedemann Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:ALTI) rose to all time highs; rising 65.41% or 6.09 to 15.40.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 0.63% to 19.08.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.61% or 11.75 to $1,947.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.47% or 0.38 to hit $80.51 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.26 to trade at $86.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.09, while USD/JPY fell 0.46% to 129.55.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 101.40.
