Moldova interested in Turkish investments in energy projects, wants to step up bilateral trade – parliament speaker

CHISINAU. Jan 27 (Interfax) – Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed regional security and cooperation during a meeting in Ankara.

“I highly assessed Turkey’s efforts to maintain the security of the grain transport corridor from Ukraine and thanked Ankara for the humanitarian assistance provided to our country in 2022 to cope with the refugee crisis, as well as for the support extended during meetings of the Moldova Support Platform,” Grosu said on social media on Friday.

The parties also discussed security in the region and problems caused by the conflict in Ukraine.

Grosu reiterated Moldova’s interest in intensifying trade with Turkey, raising investments and enhancing cooperation in the energy sector.

“Ensuring energy security is an important issue on our agenda, and we are interested in Turkish investors coming to Moldova with energy efficiency projects, etc.,” he said.

Grosu also said that he had passed an invitation to Erdogan to attend the 2nd European Political Community Summit, due to take place in Chisinau on June 1.
