Hajiji appoints Anifah as special advisor on foreign relations and investments

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government has appointed former foreign minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman as special advisor on international relations and foreign investment to the Chief Minister.

Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor presented the letter of appointment to the 69-year-old Anifah, who served as Malaysia’s foreign minister from 2008 to 2018.

In a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s office Monday (Jan 30), Hajiji said he was confident that Anifah’s extensive experience in international relations would help the state government to establish good ties with foreign countries and investors.

Hajiji said that Anifah’s appointment would augur well with the state’s investor-friendly policy.

Earlier on Monday, Hajiji also received a courtesy visit from Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup.

Hajiji was briefed by Kurup about the ministry’s collaboration project with state departments and agencies as well as programmes that have been and will be implemented in Sabah.

Hajiji wants the ministry through its departments and agencies to help Sabah to further stimulate the development of science, technology and innovation, including channelling various funds and initiatives offered by the ministry to the state.
