Eastspring Investments brings on veteran in credit research

Clement Chong joined Eastspring Investments as director and credit manager, a spokeswoman confirmed.

Mr. Chong started in December and is based in Singapore. He has 20 years of experience in credit research. At Eastspring, he oversees the credit research team and conducts credit research of Asian companies. He reports to Danny Tan, head of fixed income.

Eastspring is the investment management arm of insurer Prudential and had $222 billion assets under management as of June 30.

Mr. Chong replaces Tan Yong Hong, who left Eastspring last year after being with the firm for 11 years. Mr. Tan joined M&G Investments in September as head of credit research for Asia fixed income, an M&G spokeswoman confirmed.

Mr. Chong was most recently head of Asia credit research at NN Investment Partners, which was integrated into Goldman Sachs Asset Management after a €1.7 billion ($1.8 billion) acquisition was completed last year. NNIP had £252 billion ($306.4 billion) in AUM as of June 30. A Goldman Sachs spokeswoman declined to comment on Mr. Chong’s replacement.
