LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — An almost two-month-long strike at Eaton Aerospace in Jackson has come to an end, with striking UAW 475 workers voting Wednesday to accept a new contract by more than 90 percent.
The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports that Eaton Aerospace had begun to focus on hiring replacement workers shortly before the union voted on the contract.
Around 500 Eaton Aerospace workers began striking at noon on Sept. 16 after their extended contract expired on Sept. 5. The union and the company failed to reach an agreement regarding company-proposed changes to retirement plans and other employee benefits.

According to the union, Eaton Aerospace pushed eliminating pensions and 401k plans for new hires, which the union did not approve of.
The workers also went on strike for better health insurance, higher wages, and better processes for scheduling and promotions, saying that their benefits should reflect a rise in company profits.
Details on the new contract were not immediately available.
