Jeff Bezos’ second act is curious. Between his rocket company Blue Origin, co-sponsorship of the Met Gala and controversial ownership of The Washington Post, the Amazon (US:AMZN) founder has straddled the worlds of cutting-edge technology, celebrity and politics.
Ultimately, however, the superyacht life is no match for running a business. This month, it was unveiled that Bezos will co-head Project Prometheus, an artificial intelligence (AI) start-up focused on engineering and manufacturing that has raised $6.2bn in early-stage funding – including from Bezos himself.
The move is Bezos’ first executive post since stepping back from Amazon’s day-to-day operations in 2021.
