Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) shares edged higher about 1.5% on Tuesday morning after CEO Jensen Huang introduced Alpamayo, a new family of AI models aimed at autonomous driving, during his keynote at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
Alpamayo, built using Nvidia’s Cosmos foundation model, is designed to handle complex driving scenarios by reasoning through potential situations. Huang said the system was trained with millions of synthetic driving miles before deployment on actual roads.
Mercedes-Benz (MBGAF) will integrate Alpamayo into its new CLA model, the brand’s first vehicle running on the MB.OS platform. The car, which earned a five-star EuroNCAP safety rating, is set to arrive in U.S. showrooms in the first quarter of 2026, followed by Europe in the second quarter.
Other automakers and mobility firms including Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), Lucid (LCID) and Uber (UBER) are also adopting the platform.
Huang highlighted the broader implications for robotics, saying the technology could shape the future of physical AI and autonomous transportation.
