Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz joins Yahoo Finance Invest, where he discusses the state of the US economy and the potential inflationary risks of a second Trump presidency.
Stiglitz commends the Biden administration for bringing down inflation, telling senior reporter Alexandra Canal that President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs are a “real challenge to the global order,” one that’s already at the “point of fragility.”
He cautions that severing foreign relationships would come at a high cost, breaking supply chains and hurting corporate interests.
Despite the challenge of high interest rates, Stiglitz emphasizes the US economy’s resilience, noting that its success depends on stability in fiscal policy and international relations.
