Yellen says US economy resilient amid global issues

United States Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva that the US economy remains resilient despite global challenges, according to the readout of their conversation published on Friday.

“The secretary also noted the resilience of the US economy in the face of global headwinds, as well as the progress we’ve made over the past year in bringing down inflation while maintaining a strong labor market,” the Treasury Department noted in the readout statement published on its website.

In a press release from earlier this month, the International Monetary Fund warned a default of the US government would have severe consequences on both the country and the rest of the world. A report from earlier today hinted Congress and the Biden administration are getting closer to reaching a deal to raise the debt deal.
